The calamari sandwich is Madrid's street food even though the sea is 300 km away: squid rings fried in a plain roll, lemon if you like, never sauce if you ask a purist. The bars on the streets off Plaza Mayor, Calle Botoneras and Calle Postas, live on it; La Campana and La Ideal are the two locals argue about. About €4 to €5.
